fixin da lock

let me just state this now. some of the most memorable moments of living in shawshank for the past year and a half have occurred in the foyer...from incredibly startling christmas gift exchanges to lock repairments to only God knows what's next. with that said...here's the lock repairment story.

as some of you might have known, the lock at shawshank was temporarily broken due to my unusually good luck. basically for those who don't know, i broke the front door lock. my key somehow got stuck and when angie and i tried to pull it out, half of my key broke inside in the process. anyways, it's fixed now, courtesy of angie, kay, and cristina. here's proof of how handy my roommates are. angie dismantled the lock, kay took it to ace hardware to remove the broken key and after several hours the lock was fixed. it would have taken less than an hour but we believe a piece went missing causing the front portion lock to fall out w/ the key.

see how happy my roommates are when they're being handy.

"if i put this thing here and turn here..."
we thought we were almost done.

i think this was the part where kay knocked down angie.
oh the triumph!

this was the part where we thought it was fixed,
but it really wasn't.

the lost piece. (sorry the picture sucks.)

so basically, we used a paper clip to represent the piece we assumed we lost. several days later, cristina loosened the lock and accidentally lost the piece of paper clip. but hey, it still worked after and thanks to cristina the lock became easier to turn. there you have it folks, a team effort with me solely as the photographer of course. good job and thanks kay, angie, and cristina! i promise i'll try really hard not to break or burn anything else in the apartment. :) scouts honor! *crosses fingers* (side note: "scouts honor" is applicable to me because i was a girl scout for 4 years. sadly i no longer sell girl scout cookies altho i would like to eat some right now.)

ps. i think sarah would be happy to know that we used a paper clip to complete the job.

yo, paperclips seem to fix everything. what you don't know is the paperclip worked hard to fix the locka dn when it as done it fell off. that's how selfless they are. paperclips save the day and seek no fame. i promise to talk about paperclips in the lj soon. that's the plan at least.

if i'm allowed to be morbid then so are you. but for the record i'm not allowed to be morbid. I just am. ahahahha yo everyone one plans...hopefully but no matter what there will always be the unexpected. so yeah. peace.
