i fired a gun
semi-automatic 45mmso yesterday my dad took me to the shooting range out in Burro Canyon. the gun u see above is the type of gun i fired. it was the first time i ever fired a gun and of all the guns to shoot, i shot that one. this is the gun that is issued to military personnel. it's pretty powerful, well at least for me it is. i knew it'd have a strong kick, but i wasn't sure how it'd feel. it was hard for me to control it when i fired the first shot. in my head i thought, "whoa..." my dad helped me keep my arms steady for the first clip, but then he let me shoot on my own. i think i fired like 5 or 6 clips. personally it was cool. not that i'm a power hungry person, but i did feel powerful. i hope never to have to use one against someone, but at least now i know how to use it.
by the way my poor vision doesn't help my aim skills. everytime i shot a bullet i thought of that one scene in pocahantos, when john smith says to thomas, "keep both eyes open." hmm...didn't help me much, cuz my arms shake too much. i shared the target with my dad, so i don't know which shots are mine, but i'm pretty sure i hit the paper most of the time. i was listening to this guy after we finished and he told this lady to breath in before you shoot to keep your body steady and exhale after the shot is taken. so next imma try that. :)
and surprisingly my shoulders and arms aren't sore. :) tho my ears are even more hard of hearing cuz we only had one set of ear plugs. so whoever was shooting had the ear plugs therefore, many a times i didn't have ear plugs. :( anyways, it was fun!
oh and before i end this blog of my shooting adventures,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARITES!!! hope you have a beautiful day!
