slightly sober
10:17pm...89 degrees and completely sober.
to my amazement, i'm handling the weather better than i expected. it's hot here in canada, but overall, i'm alright.
anyways, today, i was called old. haha, it made me laugh a bit cuz frankly i'm really not that old. the thing was, the person that called me old was just really young. when did 16 become so young. in fact when did 18 become so young. not that i'm that much older, it's just recalling your thoughts at the age of 18 are significantly different from the thoughts of a 20 or 21 year old. concerns, ideas, dreams...they're all upside down. life changes, you change, life changes you. well...back to my story...
so i went to play tennis this morning. (second day in a row...woohoo!!) i arrived at the courts by 8:00am hoping to start hitting by about 8:10am. however my hitting partner, aka my friend christine, did not arrive until some time later. by then, based on my expertise on the weather, it had to be around 92-93 degrees...making the tennis courts about 103 degrees. surprisingly i was still able to play a bit. my timing is terrible and my foot work is horrible, but i got a few good shots in. well...back to the being called "old." we stopped playing and decided to sit and watch our old coaches play a set against some of the boys. the guy sitting next to us who knew christine started talking about college and getting into a university.
he was talking about having bad grades and thinking he wasn't gonna get into a good school. we chatted about gpa's and such and then i, of course, had to bring up SAT scores. (SAT's! man, i forgot about those.) anyways, this is the part where i gave my age away. i go on to say, "oh, well...i don't know exactly what's a good score now based on the new SAT's." at which point i nudged christine to explain more on that. then the guy asks, "wait, you mean you took the one that was on a 1600 scale?" with reluctancy, i say yea. to which he replies, "man, you're old!"
haha, he then asks, "how old are you?"
"21."
"yea, that's old, but hey, can you buy me alcohol?"
"hmm...probably not a good idea."
if 21 is old, he should meet the people i hang out with...haha, j/k. :)
so yes, to a 16 or 17 year old teenager, i'm old. but to me, i'm very very young, but just a little too old or maybe too out of shape to play a set of tennis in 115 degree weather.
okay, well i don't really know what else to talk to you about. today was rather strange really, on top of being called old, i burned my sausages for breakfast, i broke the glass lid to a pan (actually it shattered into about 167 pieces in the kitchen sink), and i saw my spring quarter grades.
seeing the spring quarter grades made my junior year officially complete. not the greatest of grades, but most definitely not the worse. i reached my goal for the year, but my job is not done yet. of course i'm somewhat disappointed and a little regretful, but as we all come to realize many a times, the past cannot be changed. i often find myself feeling this way everytime i look at end of the quarter grades, but like i said i finally reached a goal and it's the little triumphs in life that build up to something much greater.
i actually wrote an entry on grades and this past year a week ago, but i never posted it. so to sum up that entry i'll just say this. the year has been different, but a great different. i've learned a lot in many ways. though i still have much to understand. so here's to senior year...a year to understand? =P
oh, and yes...i never got a chance to address my previous entry. in all honesty i remember writing that entry, but i didn't remember that i had written it. basically i checked my blog 2 days later only to find it with its many mistakes. though i recall writing the actual entry. it made me laugh. like frances said, thank goodness my parents don't read this.
finally, being 21 in vegas it 10x better than being any other age under 21 in vegas. after the many years of being asked to leave the casino floor, i finally took my seat in the midst of the smoke, lights, and sounds. didn't win much, lost a little, but i had fun. i think video poker is my game. anyways, my family and i also watched phantom of the opera at the venetian. i loved it. even though a few viewers around us had subtle criticisms, i enjoyed it a lot. it made me realize how much i love that musical. who knew so much pyrotechnics can be created in that size of a theater. anyways, my favorite part was in the first 15 minutes. truly awesome. oh and the phantom...man, he's so mysterious...it's exciting seeing it live.
wow, can this entry get any longer?! well, i'll spare you the details on the other things going on in my life and mind. and frankly it's not all too interesting anyways.
excitements of the upcoming week:
wimbledon + disneyland + wicked = too much excitement for one week. (and in that order)
p.s. six flags trip in the making. let me know if you want in. we're looking at july 11, 18 or 19 maybe. not sure yet.
p.p.s. i love being home!! :D
good night!!!
11:01pm...87 degrees
i'm very grateful for the fan in our room and yes, it normally takes me that long to write an entry. seriously, good night.
