it's been just about a year since graduation and to my amazement i do not feel unaccomplished. even though this past year did not lead to the future i had hoped for, i find success in the simple act of living at home. it may be dreary sometimes because of the uncertainty of my future, the reminiscent moments of my past or because of self inflicted negativity, but i find optimism and motivation from You. i have come to see my presence in this home of 23 years as a true blessing in more ways than one. i may sometimes disagree and become extremely frustrated with my roommates, aka my parents, but i have discovered something kind of cool. i am getting to know my mom and dad, not as a child, not as a teenager, not even as a financial independent adult, but by default...as a young adult. we've shared moments of not just silence and discord, but moments where we can bridge that generation gap and laugh. they share stories of family, college, and life before they met each other. stories i would have never expected them to share with me. who they were and who they've become is a beautiful image. among my minuscule achievements during my first year as a college graduate, i can happily say that this time at home has been my greatest accomplishment. and low and behold, i find myself fortunate enough to be able to live out such success for one more year.
