"He asks us to replace consumption with sacrifice, greed with generosity, wastefulness with a spirit of sharing, an asceticism which 'entails learning to give, and not simply to give up. It is a way of loving, of moving gradually away from what I want to what God's world needs. It is liberation from fear, greed and compulsion'."
- Encyclical Letter Laudato si' of the Holy Father Francis on care for our common home
I share this because these words feel as though they have been echoing through in our world for decades, if not longer. It's beautiful that Pope Francis stated this in his Encyclical about our treatment of Mother Earth and what needs to be changed. I think this quote encompasses our entire way of living. I know it is how I have been taught, time and time again, to live. Questioned by others, pressured to change, to be more selfish as though I'm entitled to something better or more. He is better, He is more than enough. And I remember this life is not my own. I've forgotten my commitment to live a life as He would want me to, for I am His.
As I encounter another transition of life, I hope and pray to continue living a life immersed in His words and love, to move "away from what I want to what God's world needs."
P.S. Looks like I'm back for now.
