i did it again! i ate lunch twice. it really isn't my fault that i got super hungry before my lunch date with an old friend. i just couldn't wait to eat. i mean, we picked 2:00pm for lunch and i didn't realize that i'd get hungry by 11:00am. i guess these days i'm all about having meals on time. anyways, at least the second meal was somewhat healthy...corner bakery. btw, i so prefer panera!
after lunch we stopped by my high school to see the new tennis team. and for the first and last time in my life, i had a celebrity moment. it was crazy and embarrassing all at once. i was sitting on the bleachers with my old doubles partner, just watching everyone play, reminiscing about the good ol' days. one of the girls on the team was standing near us and we asked her what she played, singles or doubles. after answering, she asked us what we played. we simultaneously said "doubles." then she had this look as if she was in deep thought. suddenly her eyes opened wide and she shouted, "wait! are you guys jen and bella?!!" i immediately thought, "whoa, i've never met this girl in my life. who the heck is she and how does she know our names?" she asked us a few questions about when we used to play and then she asked if we thought her old partner and her would be able to play against the 2 of us in "our prime." haha. well, after that brief encounter she talked to the assistant coach about us. she was really friendly and maybe when i play with the team i can hit against her. anyways, it seriously was crazy how she knew who we were and i figured that this must be how celebrities feel when random people they don't know approach them and talk to them as if they do know them. as for the embarrassing part, at the end of their practice our coach introduced us and they applauded as if we were people to applaud for. talk about awkward and unnecessary to the max! =/
i've come to realize that every time i've gotten a chance to visit coach and the team i feel somewhat sad. i really really miss playing high school tennis. i miss being on the team. i miss the ridiculous tan lines. i miss being healthy and in shape. and most of all, i miss the drive, determination and energy to spend hours in the hot summer sun hitting a neon green ball across a net with friends.
anyways, i think i might be hitting with them tomorrow. i'm a little worried just because i feel like there are some expectations thanks to our coach. i actually haven't played in almost a year and they play at peak sun hours...so it's going to be hot and i am definitely not used to playing tennis in the heat. oh well, i'm sure it'll be fun...hopefully.
okay, that's all i've got. sorry for talking so much about tennis, but seriously besides applications and volunteering it's all i've got to talk about.
until next time...good night!
