Olympics out: Kwan chooses school over skating

Gah!!

all this time, i was secretly hoping she'd make the greatest olympic come back ever. i know that's been all the talk for kwan fans this past year. well, i guess the fact that she'll most likely never get that olympic gold is what makes her even more of a legend. the gold medal that has eluded her for years. i still have the utmost respect for her as a skater and role model. after all she did say,

"Skating will always be a part of me, but in the bigger picture of my life, I have always wanted to find a career that will allow me to make a positive contribution and difference in the world. Representing the United States as an American public diplomacy envoy the past three years has been very rewarding, and I want to do more. Furthering my education will bring me closer to that goal, and I don't want to wait any longer to continue the journey."

i've always come to respect people who chose to see the bigger picture. it would be on more selfish terms for her to chase that gold medal and i understand. so here's to michelle kwan continuing her journey just as i should get back to continuing mine...haha...well after i exercise of course! =P

hmm...but then again she still hasn't made her skating retirement official...
